Acceptance & Commitment Training for Musicians 

While it is widely recognized that music contributes to the health and well-being of societies, the reverse is not necessarily true. Being a professional musician is a rewarding yet challenging occupation, and the results of newer survey studies show musicians experience psychological challenges, like depression and anxiety, at much higher rates than adults in the general public.

The goal of ACT is to help you achieve what we called psychological flexibility - which means learning to react in a flexible way to what happens to you externally (e.g. events) and internally (e.g thoughts, emotions).

Flexible means that instead of trying to control, avoid or fight events that we qualify as upsetting, we learn to approach them in a more compassionate, mindful way. By learning to de-fuse from them (gaining distance from them), for thoughts, being present in the moment and open up to emotions in an accepting way we slowly become more flexible towards them and can re-focus on what brings meaning to our life while setting valued direction. 


The Acceptance and Commitment Training (ACT) for musicians is an evidence-based approach for enhancing music performance, treating performance anxiety, managing pain and recovery from injury, and coping with other issues like perfectionism, procrastination, shame, burnout and career uncertainty. 

I offer ACT coaching and workshops for professional musicians, ensembles and music students.
