Singing means joy and liberation.
I believe that using your voice and body to produce a rich and full sound leads to physical and psychological well-being. The breath is the basis of singing and during the singing lessons you will learn how to dose it correctly so that the vocal cords can work freely and you can create a full and beautiful sound.
This principle applies to all types of singing, whether classical, pop-rock, jazz or musical. Through various vocalizing and warming up exercises, you will learn develop your own unique sound on the one hand and enlarge your vocal range on the other. My singing lessons are always very colorful and lively and I always commit myself to finding a repertoire that is both adequate and brings you joy to sing. During the singing lessons I also make use of my knowledge coming from the “Acceptance and Commitment Therapy” (ACT) to work on introspection, self-awareness and acceptance of your voice as it is as well as of one's own mistakes and progresses. Throughout our work together I will gently guide you to challenge the beliefs you have about your singing and hopefully help you achieve things you never thought you could do with your voice.
Although I am not a professional pianist I am always happy to accompany my students on the piano as well as I possibly can! If you would like to improve your singing skills while you play your own instrument (for example piano, guitar, ukulele...) this is also a work I can do with pleasure.
My lessons are always structured in 3 phases:
Coming in & Breathing
Coming in - taking a few minutes to know how we are doing and what we plan to do this session.
Breathing and body exercises - getting our bodies, breathing and minds ready for singing.
Singing Technique & Repertoire
Warming up the voice & vocalizing - beginning with easy exercises progressively increase difficulty
to work on technical aspects such as the agility, volume and range of the voice.
Repertoire - we continue our work on vocal technique while enjoying the pleasure of singing
our favorite songs and work on finding our unique way to interpret and sing them.
Closing the session
Reflection - we take time at the end of the lesson to reflect on what went well and what we still want to work on and make plans for what you can do until our next sessions.
